The Artist: Joy Nangala Brown

Joy Nangala Brown was born in Alice Springs in 1966 and raised in the remote Tanami Desert region of Central Australia. She is deeply connected to her Pintupi and Warlpiri heritage, with her artistic journey inspired by her father, the successful Pintupi artist Pegleg Jampijinpa. Joy's artwork is a vibrant reflection of the Dreaming stories passed down through generations, capturing the essence of her ancestral homelands.

The Artwork: Yumari Jukurrpa (Yumari Dreaming)

The "Rock Pools Dreaming" scarf features the Yumari Jukurrpa, a Dreaming story set in the Gibson Desert. The artwork resplendent in the glorious sun-drenched colours of the Australian Outback, with its concentric circles symbolising rock holes, narrates the tale of a forbidden love between a Japaljarri man and a Nangala woman. This piece is not just a fashion accessory but an intricate storytelling canvas, bringing an ancient tales to contemporary wear.
